Böllhoff, the world's leading manufacturer of fasteners and industrial processing systems, launched its factory investment in the İzmir Free Zone (İZBAŞ) with a magnificent ceremony.

Founded in 1877 by Wilhelm Böllhoff, the İZBAŞ factory, marking the company's 15th production facility worldwide, has an investment of 2 billion Turkish Lira. All of the production, exceeding 100 million units annually, will be exported to the group's factories in France and Germany.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, attended by representatives of the Izmir business world and the company's stakeholders, Böllhoff Group Chairman Michael Böllhoff expressed his delight at commissioning the company's 15th facility in Turkey, which operates 14 production facilities in 25 countries.

Michael Böllhoff, noting that he is the fourth-generation representative of the Böllhoff family at the company, stated that they aim to develop regional supply chains in collaboration with the local ecosystem in Turkey. He said, “We invest not only in machines and buildings, but also in people, knowledge, and the future. By collaborating with vocational schools and universities, we aim to create value through training and continuous development. We know that sustainable success is only possible through partnership. “A FASTER ROUTE TO THE EUROPEAN MARKET”

Böllhoff noted that the company, whose company was founded in Turkey 20 years ago, implemented its investment decision in the Izmir Free Zone in 2023, emphasizing that production at the factory will provide faster response times and shorter delivery routes for the European and Turkish markets.

“WE BROUGHT BÖLLOFF TO TURKEY AS AN INVESTOR”

Eyüp Sevimli, Chairman of the Board of İZBAŞ İzmir Free Zone Founder and Operator Inc., expressed his pleasure in bringing Böllhoff to Turkey as an investor.

Sevimli noted that manufacturing products account for 95 percent of Turkey's exports, exceeding $270 billion, and emphasized that $8.2 billion was exported from free zones in the first eight months of this year.

Sevimli, who reported that 2,000 companies are active in 19 free zones in Turkey, emphasized that the $4.1 million in exports per company generates four times more export revenue than the national average.

28 YEARS OF FREE ZONE EXPERIENCE

Eyüp Sevimli, noting that İZBAŞ, with 41 years of experience in industrial production and 28 years in free zone operations, has taken strategic steps to ensure the sustainability of its success in trade volume and exports, made the following assessment:

“We are among the investment focus of companies focused on exports and producing high value-added products. Our easy access to Izmir city center, railways, highways, and ports, as well as access to a qualified workforce, make us a preferred choice for our investors. We attach great importance to ensuring that our region, which has currently reached over 90% occupancy, can host more investors. To this end, last year we purchased 153,000 square meters of land adjacent to our border, which will increase our investment allocation area by 10%.

Work is ongoing to officially grant this land free zone status. Following official approvals, we will quickly integrate our existing infrastructure into our expansion area and reach the point where we can allocate it to our new investors.

Our Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, He personally inaugurated the Nazilli Printed Cotton Factory, one of the most important industrial structures of our Republic, in 1937. When Atatürk heard the sound of the cotton machines starting to work when the electric switches were removed, he said, "This is the music of the machines." Factories are more than just concrete and the machines working within them. The production carried out there is like the individual notes creating a musical piece. With the Böllhoff factory, we have taken the first steps towards a process in which we will all learn, we will all do our jobs better, we will all profit, and we will all create value for our country. As a mechanical engineer, my greatest wish is that the machines working here will create a beautiful piece of music.”

BRIEF FROM BÖLLHOFF GROUP

• Founded in 1877 by Wilhelm Böllhoff, the company manufactures products specifically for a wide range of sectors, from automotive to wind energy, aviation to white goods.
• A 2 billion TL investment was made for the group's 15th production facility, commissioned at İZBAŞ. The factory, which broke ground on February 7, 2024, was commissioned in 20 months.
• Michael Böllhoff, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company, which operates 14 production facilities in 26 countries, serves as the fourth-generation representative of the family.
• All of the production, primarily for the automotive sector at the Izmir facility, will be exported to these countries for use in the company's facilities in France and Germany. When the factory reaches full capacity, annual production will reach 600 million units.
• TE Engineering carried out the industrial contracting processes for the Böllhoff Izmir production facility, designed by renowned Izmir architect Şükrü Kocagöz. All raw materials and secondary operations, such as coatings, required for production at Böllhoff's Izmir facility are supplied entirely from Turkey.
